OVERVIEW:

For MOKA Café, we designed a fun, modern logotype that paired playful typography with subtle sophistication. We also created “MOKA Bean,” a playful mascot incorporated into vibrant café signage to boost visibility and brand recognition.

The branding was carried through all customer touchpoints, including printed materials such as menus, as well as branded merchandise like coffee cups and tote bags. This cohesive approach helped increase brand awareness and revenue, while reflecting the energetic and creative personality of MOKA Café.

The identity was designed to fit within a vibrant alternative UK café culture, appealing to a young, visually-driven audience that values personality, creativity, and strong visual identities.

We researched alternative UK café culture, local competitors, and the target audience of young, creative café-goers who value visually striking and playful brands.

EXPLORATION:

Multiple logo and mascot concepts were explored, blending playful typography with subtle sophistication. We developed “MOKA Bean” as a memorable mascot to give the brand personality and a friendly face for customers to connect with.

REFINEMENT:

The final brand identity system included:

  • Café Signage: Eye-catching storefront and interior signage featuring both the logotype and mascot

  • Printed Materials: Menus designed to reinforce the brand’s playful, modern aesthetic.

  • Merchandise: Branded coffee cups and tote bags to enhance visibility and promote brand recognition.

Collaborative feedback ensured the brand was cohesive, adaptable, and visually appealing across all touchpoints.
